St Mary's is one of three district churches in the St Nicholas' Parish. An early Victorian building it has been extended to create a connected adjacent hall (with toilet and kitchen facilities) that can be used separately or opened for more seating at a service.

A large free car park is right behind the church.

A further significant extension at St Mary's provides a tower with larger entrance to the church, new vestry and with an extra meeting room and storage, and facilities for the disabled. The tower also houses the Cunningham bell.
